Two's Day (Tuesday), 2/22/22

Mind blown! Need I say more?!

What an incredibly unique and fun day to make memories on!

Celebrate Two's Day on Tuesday, 2/22/22 (OR on 2/2/22) with a fun and easy Two's Day Flip Book that incorporates writing, patterns, task skills, finding pairs, counting by 2s, drawing & more!

Six different tabs provide fun, quick, mini activities that won't take up your whole day but will still allow your students to have a little fun on this special day.

The cover has a place for your student to write their name so that they can proudly display their celebratory work on a classroom bulletin board or in the hallway.

The first page of the flip book allows students to work on their writing skills. First they will trace the gray scale date, and then they will write the date on their own.
This page has two options: one for February 22 and one for February 2.

The next page asks students to draw triangles and count by 2s! Encourage your students to continue counting verbally to you or a friend by 2s past 28.

Pairs come in twos! Can your students find the matching pairs? Guide your students through this activity by setting up sentences for them to finish.

"Milk and _________."
"Salt and ________."
"Eggs and ________."
"Cat and _________."
"Bread and _______."
"Cake and ___________."
"Burger and ________."

I'm always looking for a way to sneak in some ways to get students to consciously think about being kind! See if they can come up with 2 ideas of things they can do TO-day to be kind to someone else.

Get your students started on some AB pattern review while they brainstorm which friend they would like to draw a picture of themselves with. Bonus points if they are doing something kind for that friend in the picture!

Simple check lists can improve student learning. Use this opportunity to talk to your kiddos about what a check list is, how to make one, and how to implement one! Then get them jumping and hopping with this "Two"-do list page.

My favorite part is next-putting them together! Show students how to stack them up by putting some glue on the "glue" tabs.

It's time to get ready for Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
Are your lesson plans ready?
I have some amazing resources to share with you that will help you plan.

The first set of activities is from this:
Martin Luther King Jr. Pack for Kinders

This pack includes 9 different types of resources for you to use on MLK Jr. Day:
1) "I Have a Dream" Emergent Reader
2) MLK 3 pieces puzzles in Black/White & Color
(Use them for fast finishers, to send home for fun, or have students paste them together on a writing prompt!)
3) I Have a Dream Color-by-Number
4) I Have a Dream Writing Prompt
5) All About Dr. King Graphic Organizer
6) I Have a Dream Cloud Cut-Out (1-2 sentence writing prompt)
7) All About Dr. King Facts Organizer
8) Pocket Chart Pieces
9) Full Sized Vocabulary Classroom Posters

Another fun, quick, and easy resource is this MLK Jr Flip Book.

The MLK Jr Flip Book has two character pictures to choose from. Let your students choose which one they prefer to use!

Either one they choose will look great along the side of their flip book!

The first tab has students writing down some basic facts All About MLK Jr.

We all have dreams! Have your students think about what one of their biggest dreams is and write it down.

Do you ever wish you could travel back in time and talk to this famous leader? What would you say? The next page has students practicing letter writing.

Next, have some fun seeing what words you can make out of the name "Martin."

Then bust out your artistic skills and illustrate a picture of MLK Jr giving one of his speeches.

Finally, spend some time thinking about MLK Jr and write down 5 words that describe him.

Glue all of the tabs at the top of each page together. Then pick which MLK Jr character you want to glue to the side.

Here is a great video about MLK's life that you can show your littles.

We also talk about respect during our MLK unit.
We learn and sing this RESPECT rap:

Count & color leaves with a fun emergent reader that will enhance the other fall lessons, activities, and crafts you have planned for your kids. A great way to tie in math and color words practice. Plus, get a FREE download!
Fall came and went quickly for us. We actually had a lot of snow on Halloween this year! Bleh! Before the leaves get crunchy and crumbled, I wanted to show you an awesome fall counting reinforcement that I snuck into an emergent reader, a few other fall activities, and then I have a FREE DOWNLOAD for you to use with your kiddos!

Fall is a perfect unit for working on counting and color words. Students love collecting and looking at the beautiful leaves that fall from the trees.

Here's a full picture of the cover of the reader:

There are actually two versions you can choose from. One has a blank for students to count and write in the number of leaves on each page. The other doesn't and just includes the number word. Both include numbers 1-10.

You can get this Fall Counting Leaves Emergent Reader HERE.

If your kiddos are needing to simply just work on color words, there is a very similar emergent reader that focuses on that!

Each page simply introduces (or reviews) a new color word. They follow this format (see the next pic), and the last page has many leaves that they can choose to color whatever they would like. It's a great way to casually tie color words into your fall unit. It's also a great way to informally assess which color words your kiddos need to keep working on!

Make sure to have a few extra copies handy for kids who miscolor and need a new copy!
You can get this Fall Coloring Leaves Emergent Reader HERE.

Both of these readers, plus even more readers and other ELA and Math activities centered around Fall, are included in a Fall Activities Bundle.

This bundle includes yet another emergent reader that follows a simple "I can see..." format and introduces or reviews fall vocabulary.

Vocabulary posters are included to hang around your room for decor and most importantly, for use as a reference and also for use with a write-the-room activity.

Large, colorful pocket chart pieces are included as well!

One last thing...

I have a FREE DOWNLOAD for you to use with your kiddos.
Get these Fall 3-Pieces Puzzles to use with your fall unit!

They include a black/white version too. A perfect filler for fast finishers who finish their center work and want something more to work on! Have them color it, cut it out, and give it to a friend to put back together.
